The Diplomate in Osteopathic Manipulative Theory & Practice Program

OCO Professionals teaching professionals

The Osteopathic College of Ontario is conducting a comprehensive program in Osteopathic Manipulation. The Diplomate in Osteopathic Manipulative Theory & Practice is an intensive three-year program in Osteopathy designed specifically for existing healthcare practitioners. The school’s instructors are all full time professional Osteopaths of the highest caliber who pass on both theory and clinical knowledge that will help you in achieving your goals as a healthcare provider and growing a successful practice. Small class sizes ensure each student receives all the attention necessary in order to develop the subtle palpation skills and “hands” required for maximum clinical efficacy.

The program is built around fourteen three-day quanta given four times per year over the course of three years plus four weeks of individualized clinical training. The clinical training distinguishes our program and is an integral part which affords students the ability to broaden their knowledge in an osteopathic clinic. Dr. Sanet ensures that all courses are grounded with a proper regard to human anatomy, physiology and biomechanics. By starting with an appropriate knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and soft tissues, practitioners are better prepared to help their patients overcome pain and illness through the art and science of osteopathy. Combining human touch with correct technique will enable practitioners to move further down the road to becoming better healers.

Upon completion of the diplomate program graduates are eligible to become a member of the Ontario Council of Drugless Osteopathy (OCDO). This is a critical detail as Osteopathy is not a registered health care profession in Ontario. If you want to practice in Ontario you will need to be a member of a governing body that is recognized by the insurance industry such as the OCDO in order to bill to insurers (extended health care). It is rarely disclosed to students of purely online programs, programs with severely compressed timelines and/or lower academic thresholds, that the OCDO will not admit graduates of those programs.
